Some commonly asked questions

In order to enter Vietnam, a foreigner needs a visa issued by the Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. A Vietnamese visa can be granted while in a third-party country or from within Vietnam. However, to work in Vietnam and remain for an extended period, foreigners need to apply for a longer-term multiple-entry work visa. Expat teachers can enter Vietnam on a tourist visa, but as soon as they have obtained their work permit, they are asked to change the purpose of their visas immediately from tourist visas to business visas.

No, a work permit is required when working in Vietnam.

Currently, work permits for foreigners are valid for a maximum of two years. Authorities are becoming stricter regarding work permits. Those who violate the regulations by working in Vietnam without a work permit may be penalized or, if unable to meet work permit requirements, deported back to their home countries.

Foreigners are required to obtain work permits in order to legally work in Vietnam and to apply/ renew business or work visas. In order to obtain a work permit, the school has to submit an application on behalf of the teacher that includes the following:

  • Notarized, authenticated and translated teaching certificates
  • Notarized, authenticated and translated BA/MA degree
  • Notarized, authenticated and translated overseas criminal background check (good for 6 months from the issue date) Or Vietnamese background check
  • Health check certificate
  • Two passport photos (4x6 cm in size, white background, without glasses, formal clothes and no smiling)
  • A certified true copy of the whole passport

There are classes on weekdays from 7:00-11:30 and from 13:00-16:30 in public schools.

In English centers, the majority of our classes take place at weekends and during weekday evenings.

In public schools, classrooms have an average of 40-50 students. There are blackboard and chalk, fans in the regular classrooms. Each classroom of Math and Science Project is equipped with air conditioning, a computer, a projector, a whiteboard, and speakers.

We have classes at public schools and English centers. Students can be varied in ages and levels of English, from Kindergarten (3-5 years old), Primary school (6-10 years old), Secondary school (11-15 years old), High school (16-18 years old) to Adults.

Normally, you will need the following qualifications:

  • A native English speaker from one of the following countries: USA, Canada, UK, Australia, South Africa, Ireland or New Zealand
  • A university degree from an accredited institution
  • A TESOL/TEFL certificate or be willing to get TESOL/TEFL certified

The recruitment steps can be different for different positions. The first step is to complete the application form for a job. After that, an account on the system will be created for you (if that is your first application) and you will be guided through the recruitment process.

The process may include an online test, a demo, a video interview and/or a face to face interview (online or offline).

We recruit teachers throughout the year, but our two main recruitment periods are July-September and December-January for the classes starting from September and January.

Yes.

You may be required to take a video interview (record answers through the system), and/or attend a face to face interview. The face to face interview will be conducted online (via Skype) or offline depending on the applicant's location.

Yes.

After the applicants accept the offer letter, all necessary training will be provided (online or offline) to help the teachers prepare themselves most for the job.

No, you do not need to pay any fee to apply for a job.

Yes.

We will support you with the process of obtaining a work permit. The fees incurred in the process and how they are to be paid will be explained and agreed in advance.

Most of the positions are long-term. The minimum length of a contract is 4-5 months, and 9-month contracts or longer are preferable.
